Novomet offers a solution for casing sizes of 127 mm, which reduces extraction costs while being highly reliable.

This is an installation of an electric drive centrifugal pump of size 5U, developed by the company's engineers specifically for casing sizes with an inner diameter of 127 mm.

"The idea behind the development was driven by the need for an alternative solution for such casing, aside from the use of size 3 and 4 installations," explains Novomet's chief designer, Konstantin Saveliev.

The 5U electric submersible pump (ESP) is a standardized model in which the pump of size 92, used in the standard size 5 installation, operates in conjunction with a size 103 motor. While the classic ESP-5 cannot be operated in a casing with a minimal inner diameter due to its exceeding dimensions, the ESP-5U can be operated in a casing with an inner diameter of 112 mm due to its reduced dimensions achieved through the use of a displacement module and replacement of end components.

The displacement module is designed to transmit torque from the electric motor to the hydraulic protection with offset shaft axes. Its design for the 5U is based on the existing module - a well-established device developed by Novomet specialists that possesses the necessary reliability. It is widely used in ESP-2A and has a positive operational experience of over 700 days.

Since size 5 installations are among the most in-demand, the ESP-5U has a high degree of standardization. Excellent maintainability allows for the use of available pumps, pre-installed devices, additional equipment, and components that are utilized for standard strings.

Thus, the size 5U electric submersible pump combines reduced length, lower cost, increased standardization, and reliability.
