Novomet has designed and successfully tested new ImpalaESP stages in 362 and 406 series for operation in extra harsh environment with solids content up to 3 g/l. The pumps are now ready for trial.

Novomet ImpalaESP is a high-production rate system. Low axial force pump stages enable the ESP to perform over a wider production range. This allows to run a single ESP in wells with fluctuating production rates.

Impala pumps are made from a high wear-resistant material - VNL steel. This high-strength casting alloy, which was created for the aviation industry and was previously considered secret, has high mechanical and corrosion properties. For example, the yield and strength limit are 4 times higher than the characteristics of the previously used material, and the abrasion resistance is 40- 60% higher. VNL material allows to operate in harsh environment and high solids content fluid.

Extended-range ESP has high efficiency and semi-compression pump design. New ESP has diagonal semi-compression design with bearings configurations 1:1, T-shaped bearing bushings and wear-resistant VNL-3 material. This provides operational stability and profitability of company service projects.

One of ImpalaESP modifications is for extra harsh environment operation in fluid with solids content up to 3 g/l. This ESP type in intended for operation in shale plays or in tight reservoirs.

First Impala trials were performed in USA shale pays where ImpalaESP runlife was 3 times longer than serial ESP. Russia also has hard to recover reserves in Bazhenov formation and in West Siberia where extended-range ESP can be operated.

Today Novomet offers 6 new ImpalaESP stages:
  • NFV3800M (operating range 943-4528 bpd, nominal flowrate 3773 bpd at 60Hz)
  • NHV3000M1 (operating range 755-4151 bpd, nominal flowrate 3019 bpd at 60Hz)
  • NHV5300H1 (operating range 1321-6792 bpd, nominal flowrate 5283 bpd at 60Hz)
  • NH2100M1 (operating range 528-2641 bpd, nominal flowrate 2113 bpd at 60Hz)
  • NH(2500-3100)H1 (operating range 603-3019 bpd, nominal flowrate 2414 bpd at 60Hz)
  • NH3800M (operating range 943-4528 bpd, nominal flowrate 3773 bpd at 60Hz)

New ImpalaESP stages have successfully passed testing and proved their characteristics. Their wide operating range enables the system to operate from 528 up to 6792 bpd at 60Hz.

Lifting the fluids that power the world

The path forward for responsible oil and gas production is to always look for new ways to reduce the cost required to find, tap, and produce a barrel of oil or a cubic meter of gas. Most oilfield services companies are heavily focused on exploration and drilling.

By contrast, Novomet is hyper-focused on completions and artificial lift. More specifically, Novomet is a leader among oilfield service companies with superior technologies that produce higher volumes of hydrocarbons while helping lower the overall cost of production.

The goal is to continuously make more oil and gas with less effort, cost, and environmental impact. The next great breakthroughs in the oil and gas industry will not come from new exploration, drilling, pipeline, or refining technology. Rather, they will come from advances in our ability to economically produce more hydrocarbons from the wells we are already drilling. They will come from artificial lift technologies.

Our purpose is simple and straight-forward:
We lift the fluids that power the world.

Our mission is to harvest what other oilfield service companies leave behind, reduce the power and cost required to produce hydrocarbons, and develop viable green energy solutions.

Oilfield services and the energy industry

People, businesses, and economies have more opportunities to grow when they have access to safe, affordable sources of energy. Electricity keeps us warm, helps us stay healthy, and drives speed and agility in commerce. The goal of the energy industry is to provide power for as low a cost and with as little environmental impact as possible.

Renewable energy sources remain a priority. As costs come down for geothermal, solar, wind, hydro-electric, and other alternative forms of energy, there will be less dependence and need for oil and gas. Until that happens, the most economical and environmentally responsible path forward is to continue to find and produce enough hydrocarbons to meet the world’s energy demands.

Novomet remains dedicated to helping energy companies harvest the hydrocarbons they need to power the world—for as low an environmental and economic impact as possible. When you think artificial lift (oil and gas, geothermal, mine dewatering, etc.) think Novomet.
